‘Tis the season for food-world awards: following last week’s James Beard Foundation Chef and Restaurant Award semifinalist nominees, the International Association of Culinary Professionals–which honors cookbook writers, food journalists and others in food media–announced their nominees as well. The IACP ceremony takes place on April 9 in San Francisco.
Cookbook awards are broken into categories (“American,” “Baking,” “Chefs and Restaurants,” etc), with major contenders including ex-Gourmet staffer Ian Knauer’s “The Farm: Rustic Recipes From A Year of Incredible Food,” “Jerusalem: A Cookbook” by London superstars Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi and “Burma: Rivers of Flavor” by Naomi Duguid. Awards are also given for individual works of culinary writing, with articles from Savuer, Gilt Taste and Eating Well racking up several nominations. Digital media is also represented, with awards for best culinary blog, use of video and “intriguing use of technology,” with nods to find.eat.drink.com and Laurent Gras’s “My Provence.”

Media hawks will be curious to see how many of IACP’s nominees overlap with James Beard Journalism, Broadcast and New Media Award nominees, which have not been announced yet–but keep an eye on the Culintro blog for updates!
